The Babylonians were an ancient civilization which inhabited Mesopatamia, modern day Iraq. The Babylonian Empire controlled a number of cities between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers circa 2000-1000 B.C. It later was under the control of the Assyrians, and the Persian Empire.
