Evidence of an early civilization from the remote past is located. A pair of (once romantically involved) archeologists is sent to El Salvador to study and document the historical record that has been found. It tells the story of a young, tribal prince who encounters an enemy princess during a skirmish. He is smitten with her after only seeing her for a few minutes. He abandons his warring tribe to set out, find, and meet the lovely (but rather spoiled) girl who heralds from a peaceful tribe.
Following an inter-tribal skirmish, he becomes king and the girl becomes his wife. But there is a terrible horde of iron-clad, marauding soldiers pressing down from the north. It is up to the new king, the new leader of the combined tribes, to defend against the ruthless army which vastly outnumbers the king's own people. From the reading of the ancient story, the two archeologists appreciate that kind of special love which they have just learned about. They are left with the moral dilemma of what to do with the evidence of such a royal love.
