This novel is divided into two "books." The first follows the outlaw career of Buck Duane. In book two, however, Duane gives up the fugitive trail and becomes a Texas Ranger. He encounters the infamous killer, Poggin, riding with the outlaw gang. In a blazing gunfight, justice is served. Romance, of course, follows Buck through both books.

This edition of the book contains the single original illustration, rejuvenated, and nine additional, classic illustrations that are unique to this edition of the book.

Pearl Zane Grey (January 31, 1872 – October 23, 1939) was an American author best known for his popular adventure novels and stories that presented an idealized image of the American frontier. Riders of the Purple Sage (1912) was his best-selling book.
