Forrest England finds a little girl's diary, and his life is about to change. Shunning his wife and kids over and over again, Forrest delves into the life of an abused Andrea Deveaux. Fighting the yearning to protect the little girl is a losing battle, and his overwhelming longing to shield her, soon becomes an obsession. An obsession not only for the little girl in the diary, but also for the now grown woman who wrote that diary many years ago. Through Andrea Deveaux's entire young life, she lived in fear of Mr. Hyndman and her mother. When Mr. Hyndman wasn't abusing her sexually, she was a punching bag for her mother. Pouring her heart out on the pages of her pink diary, was her only solace. That diary was her safe place. Now a thirty-four year old Andrea still sees Mr. Hyndman lurking in the shadows. Though the diary has been lost for twenty-two years, the silver key that opened it hangs on a chain around Andrea's neck. She grabs the key, as once again, her terror is heightened by the blue eyed monster. Although Forrest and Andrea have never met, they will find themselves in a myriad of twists and turns, and from afar, both battling the same harrowing demons. Both will realize that not only are the demons real, but they are much, much too close to home.
