The Lost Romanov Icon and the Enigma of Anastasia

The mystery of the fate of Tsar Nicholas II and his family has interested the world ever since they were supposedly executed in Ekaterinburg by the Bolsheviks in 1918. Soon afterwards stories about their survival started circulating, and ever since the true fate of the Romanovs has been shrouded in mystery. Many have claimed to be surviving members of the Russian Imperial family, but perhaps the most well known and long standing was that of Anna Anderson, a young woman who appeared in Berlin in 1920 and whose claim was recognized by members of royal families across Europe.

This fascinating novel opens up once again the debate over whether Anna Anderson was in fact Anastasia of Russia, as it brings to light never-before-seen documents that support that theory. The story takes Rodney Mundy, a former MI6 spy, around the world in search of a valuable icon that was given to Anastasia by the Grand Ducal family of Saxe-Weimar, and which was stolen after her death before it could be returned. During his mission, Mundy discovers not only the truth about Anastasia, but also that Vatican is involved and has known the truth since 1918, and have suppressed from the public many facts and much evidence about the real fate of the Romanovs.
