The remains of a body discovered at an archaeological dig site are not usually the subject of much surprise, especially when the dig is centred on the ruins of an ancient chapel. But when the body is discovered to be two hundred years out of its time, questions need to be asked.

For local archaeologist Bev Downham and her team excavating on the site of the old Loxwood Chapel, a few skeletons tend to go with the job. However the discovery of a corpse that was definitely much more recent than the rest of its graveyard companions starts a sequence of events that threatens to tear away the air of contentment of this sleepy English village.

Inspector Wesley is called to investigate and soon discovers a link to a recent local disappearance. His enquiries take him through a tangled web of secrets and lies as he uncovers a dark past to the village that many would prefer had stayed buried. Is there a connection with the recent murder of Mia Templeton? And just who is the shadowy figure that has Reverend Aziah Collins so disturbed?

As more bodies emerge Inspector Wesley faces an increasing wall of resistance and false trails in what is rapidly becoming the most difficult case of his career.

The Loxwood Legacy is the fourth in the incredibly successful Inspector Wesley Mysteries.
