Set against the backdrop of the turbulent1700s with slave revolts in the British colony of Jamaica as well as the American Revolution, The Master’s Daughter is the story of the young mulatto Felice Henderson whose Scottish father Duncan Henderson acknowledges her parentage and takes full responsibility for her upbringing. The naïve Felice is thrown into a world with which she is unfamiliar and must deal with her changing relationships with the slaves on the estate. When she meets a kindred spirit in Mulatto John, she faces the rude awakening of her status as a creole and a colonial.

While not a historical novel, The Master’s Daughter incorporates historical events and figures of significance to the history and development of the region.
