THE MICE OF MIDDLETON MARSH
Far, far away in a magic land,
Where animals are people like you and me,
Lives a little mouse named Jimmy
He has a cottage small, as cute as it could be.
One night when the rain came tumbling down
There was a knock upon his door
And a new friend came into his life.
He would not be the same any more.
His name was Paddy, he was cold and poor
And Jimmy let him share his home,
This made the village a better place.
Paddy knew things he learned as he did roam.
The village was small with a narrow street
With shops running down each side.
A farm by the stream, where Farmer Brown lived,
Who seemed as tall as he was wide.
There was Rich Mouse who lived on the hill
Who owned a mansion tall and grand,
He owned the bank but was never mean
And gave things away on every hand.
There is a book full of tales and yarns
That you all should really read;
You will find hidden in the book
A good way of life that you could lead.
For the mice are kind and thoughtful,
Helpful and all hard working too,
They are willing to learn new things
And are an example for me and you.
