The Midwinter Child

Mid-winter. Britain is under thick snow. On his thirteenth birthday Alex finds that his godfather, Uncle Max, a mysterious archaeologist, has sent him a sword and a cryptic note. His parents vanish and a mysterious Watcher is out to get the sword. With his best friend, Callie, he flees to London to find Uncle Max, pursued by the Dear forces led by the Watcher. At Uncle Max's house Alex learns about his past and his future, but the Dark returns in force, bringing the terrifying Elementals,and Alex and cAllie have to use magic for the first time to get away. Desperate to see that his parents are all right, they go to the High Security hospital they have been put in where they meet the sinister Minister for Defence who is also after the sword. The sword whisks them away to Glastonbury Tor where they find the entrance to Avalon and meet Morgana, its scheming queen and have to win back the sword's magical scabbard to save Alex's parents. Returning to our own world they find the Dark waiting for them. Seized and dragged to Glastonbury Abbey, Alex has to try to prevent the Dark from bringing their evil master into our world, and rescue his parents.
