The monitization of life is played out in all areas of our existence. The term monitization means to legalize as money; to give the character of money to. So, the ongoing process of monitization is to give the character of money to…everything. What is the character of money? It is cold, hard, anonymous, without empathy, alienating and violent.
Monitization has distorted every human and social function of our lives. It has invaded how we think and the language we use. If something is important today, it ‘counts’.
How has this come about? We have what monetary expert Bernard Lietaer calls a collective blind spot when it comes to money. I describe this blind spot and describe a fatal flaw in our traditional currency.
What can be done? The book goes on to offer a solution we can implement just by going about our everyday lives and that is by changing the money. Change the money; change the world.
