Caroline is the muse, Carter is the lyricist who is struck when he sees her. There is Douglass, the skirt-chasing businessman chasing Caroline, Janet, the music teacher who works with Carter on school musical and is sending him signals that go over his head, until one day, everything changes.

‘’I thought about it and I think I should tell you something.’’

‘’What is it?’’

‘’You have…a cute butt.’’

‘’When did you check out my butt?’’

‘’You mean when did I not, check out your cute butt. I’ve been aching to pinch it.’’

Laughing, he said, ‘’Well now, that’s interesting. I never had a woman pinch my butt. I wonder if I would like it.’’

‘’I know I would.’’, she said laughing.

‘’Janet, life with you is never going to be boring, is it?’’

‘’I hope not, my sense of humour would not allow it.’’

‘’Well, my sense of humour has been dormant up till now.’’

‘’I think it will go very well with mine, judging by tonight.’’

Then she started to stroke his ear, his jaw and kissed him, whispering ‘it’s past nine already’.

‘’Better get busy, then. Hate to miss out on opportunities to kiss you.’’

A few minutes later, he asked, ‘’Would you care to dance?’’

‘’Yes, I would.’’

So they stopped kissing, got up and Janet adjusted the volume on the radio. He took her into his arms and they started to dance. Cheek-to-cheek. Carter was holding her right hand with his left, while his right hand was around her waist, so that her left hand was around his back at shoulder level.

They had been dancing for a good twenty minutes, when Janet suddenly realised she had the opportunity she had been aching for, so she reached down and pinched his butt.

‘’Hey!’’

‘’I told you I had an aching for a long time and I couldn’t pass up this opportunity.’’

‘’Ya, right!’’ He had an idea and his hand went down, rested on her butt.

‘’Are you going to pinch me?’’

‘’No, I’m not.’’

‘’You’re just going to have it rest there?’’

‘’Don’t you like it? You can do the same to me.’’

‘’Carter, I like it, however, we both know that we could go in a certain direction very quickly with that kind of touch.’’

‘’And we agreed to not rush things.’’ He removed his hand from her butt and put it back around her waist. ‘’So close and yet so far.’’

‘’Writing lyrics or pleading for more?’’

‘’Just stating the facts.’’

‘’Well here are some facts for you, it’s almost 10, I know you ache for more, a part of me does too, but another is definitely holding me back, but I can tell you that it will be worth the wait.’’

‘’I feel like I just got a cold, hot, cold and then hot shower.’’

‘’If it makes you feel any better, I could use a cold shower. It’s not because I can’t that I don’t. You turn me on, of course.’’

‘’Janet, my love, I better go, before …’’

‘’Before I have to ask you to stop and go home.’’

‘’Good night. Dinner tomorrow?’’

‘’Yes, dinner. Good night.’’
