The Naming Of Cancer – published on Thursday 27th November 2014 – is Neon‘s very first chapbook. This fourteen-poem volume begins in a hospital, and from there explores the experience of cancer from a multitude of perspectives, from the person struggling to survive the disease to the spouse pacing in the waiting room, the oncologist doubting their own ability to diagnose, and even the cancer cells themselves, mourning their host body even as they destroy it. The Naming Of Cancer is anything but an easy read, but is certainly a necessary one.

Tracey S Rosenberg was awarded a Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award in 2010, and wrote or revised many of the poems in The Naming Of Cancer during her award. This will be her second chapbook; her first – Lipstick Is Always A Plus – was published by Stewed Rhubarb Press in November 2012. Her work has also appeared in New Writing Scotland, Gutter Magazine, the Yale Journal For Humanities In Medicine, the Journal Of The American Medical Association (JAMA) and issue 37 of Neon.
