In his short life Robert E. Howard produced hundreds of short stories and works of poetry. Commonly associated with the era of pulp fiction he created numerous characters of which the most popular is Conan the Cimmerian. The titular story "The People of the Black Circle" because of its epic scope and atypical Hindustan flavor is considered one of Howard's best Conan stories. The plot of the story revolves around Conan's kidnapping of a regal princess of Vendhya, a pre-historical India, and foiling a nefarious plot of world domination by the Black Seers of Yimsha. "The People of the Black Circle and Other Stories" is a collection of popular Conan stories which also include the following tales: "Gods of the North," "Shadows in the Moonlight," "Queen of the Black Coast," "The Devil in Iron," and "A Witch Shall Be Born."
