Some years ago, a Spiritualist church approached me about doing a workshop on positive thinking. This may have had something to do with my having to deal with a cognitive disability. After recovering from the initial shock of no longer able to be as active as before, I set about making changes – adapting to something else. This had nothing to do with thinking positively, but more about changing how I think.
This is the last chapter in the Re-Creator series. In this booklet, we impress upon you, and others the need for support. This is something our culture overlooks. The motto we are conditioned to is be number one, just do it, and no pain no gain is just a few of clichés we are bombarded with. Combine this with the stigma of seeking help for our wellbeing, we are often left in a quandary. Though some of us are fortunate to be able to hold our counsel, others are not as well equipped. Our purpose is to encourage others to seek our family, friends, therapists, ministers, or a stranger to help them through mental and emotional difficulty.
While this focuses on my disability, I like to believe this may be useful to others regardless of their physical or mental conditions. All that is required is desire and commitment. Without these, everything else is wishful thinking.
