The Second Helvetic Confession was written in 1562 by pastor Heinrich Bullinger, and although it was intended only for private use, it became one of the most influential documents among Christians who broke from the Catholic Church during and after the Reformation of the early 16th century. Bullingers work eventually caught the eye of Elector Palatine Frederick III, who had it translated into German and published. It immediately became popular in Switzerland, and eventually it was adopted by the Reformed Church in Scotland, Hungary (1567), France (1571), and Poland (1578). Within 15 years, it was second only to the Heidelberg Catechism among the confessions of the Reformed Chuch. This edition of The Second Helvetic Confession includes pictures of Bullinger, Frederick III, Calvin, Luther, and more. A table of contents is included for easier navigation.
