Written by:
Danica N. Worthy
Deidra D.S. Green
Jamila E. Gomez
Tammie T. Bell-Davis
Synopsis
The Sisters’ Fight; A Poetic Anthology was written by four women that came together through their love of writing and creativity to bring added awareness to the ongoing battle of fighting Cancer and Bullying. This book of poetry and short stories represents the love and struggles each writer has faced in one form or another in dealing with the effects of what cancer can do to a family member or friend who battles this increasing disease. Through their writings, you will understand and sympathize with their personal struggle to cope with being strong and supportive in dealing with this disease that completely changes lives. Not only does cancer affect the body it also changes the frame of mind; giving you a whole new perspective on life. Though we have advanced treatments to better the chances of survival of cancer there is still no cure. The Sisters’ Fight wants to bring more awareness to this cause by donating 15% of proceeds to cancer research in hopes of a cure.
Another cause The Sisters’ Fight addresses in this anthology is bullying. With increasing technology bullying is finding a whole new outlet through internet and social media. Words of hate sent through cyberspace and torturing the victim on such a huge medium is at an all time high. Children and adults, embarrassed and humiliated, often turn to drastic, sometimes fatal measures to no longer suffer from the pain of bullying. Words and actions hurt. Awareness through teaching is needed to help us understand why bullying is wrong and how the effects of such can cause pain to the undeserving recipient. It’s often found that the bully has in some way been hurt themselves and releases their own pain on someone they consider an easy target. The effects of bullying needs to be addressed from the side of the victim as well as that of the bully. The Sisters’ Fight will donate 15% of proceeds to bring more awareness where it’s needed most.
A total of 30% of the proceeds from The Sisters’ Fight: A Poetic Anthology of Awareness will be donated to respective Cancer and Bullying Charities.
