In "The Snow Day that went Terribly Wrong", a family of three children gets an unexpected snow day off school.  While playing outside, they inadvertently open a doorway to another world which allows a few unusual visitors to come through.  They quickly cause trouble for the kids who must embark on a quest to help the intruders before the curse on them can be lifted.

This story is targetted at 7-11 year olds with a desire to read and a love of things cute and weird.  With some tense moments, readers are taken through an experience that shows them not to judge new situations or people too hastily.  By the end of the book, every reader should have a favourite character.

A broader theme addressed in the book and alluded to in the dedication is the concept of physical disability and how children deal with it in life.  Each of the children suffers a different disability temporarily and must manage it to successfully navigate their experiences in the story.

A glossary of advanced words used in the book is provided at the end.  However, being written by one of the younger characters in the story, the definitions often prove to be more humorous than useful.  A fun read for children and adults.
