The Strength of Love

Mark Fanning had swept Emily Monroe off her feet, literally. The first time they met had been at a political fund raiser for Mark’s brother, Paul. Emily had been working with the catering staff, setting up the buffet line. She had run smack into Mark coming around the corner of the catering tent. The collision between his 6 foot 4 inch athletic body and her 5 foot 4 inch petite frame had sent her sprawling on the ground; Mark barely flinched at the impact.
Being a well-trained perfect gentleman, Mark had helped Emily up off the ground and set her on her feet. Emily had been angry at this oaf for being where he shouldn’t be at this event. Mark had been annoyed at someone getting in his way while he was looking for Paul. But both forgot their anger and annoyance, both losing themselves in the current of electricity that ran between them. Neither had ever believed in love at first sight; both changed their minds after that day.
