The Struggle of Love

Imagine a mother leaving her two year old daughter in the front yard, frightened and alone, only to return years later. In the interim, the child’s Dad, notorious in his own way, becomes the responsible parent. This was the beginning of life for Sharon D. Johnson. Needless to say, she grew up on the fast track, dropped out of school and became a mother at age thirteen.
Fast forward ten years to Sharon as the single mother three little girls. With limited resources and no place to live, she ended up at the home of the mother that left her in the yard. One day she went to work and left her daughters with her Mother only to return home and find the girls on the front porch because she had locked them out of the house. From there Sharon found her way to the local Family Shelter.
Time spent at the shelter had a profound impact on Sharon Johnson’s life. She learned how to survive and appreciated the safe haven provided to women and children in need.
