~~When the world falls, what happens to the survivors who only wanted to live in peace? From Lynn Lamb, comes a post-apocalyptic novel like no other. No zombies, wolves, witches, vampires, or supernatural of any kind; only a group of people who want to live in peace while keeping their humanity. With tears, romance, death, compassion and even humor, this novel reveals the gamut of human nature in the face of the ultimate end.

Laura, a struggling filmmaker, finds herself the survivor of the ultimate war and the leader of a small community in Monterey, California, that has been inexplicably missed by the enemy. A sometimes mysterious, sometimes humorous Army Colonel manipulates the community of survivors into following Laura, who is learning not only what power means, but how her family’s bonds guide her moral compass.

Laura and her family are forced to stay inside their boarded up house in the weeks directly after nuclear war hits the United States. They find that the only way to pass the time is to stay in touch with their neighbors through walkie talkie communications. They spend their days working on plans for when the air outside is safe to breath once more.
When they are finally able to leave their homes, the community, dubbed the Monte Vista Village, comes together to survive the incredible devastation. They willingly follow the sincere Laura Balous, while she organizes a small governmental system and finds ways to educate the Villagers on how to survive without the creature comforts they had all depended upon in the past. With few clean water sources, gas or electricity, the community struggles to regain some sort of security, but Mother Nature and the nuclear environment combine to throw more surprises their way.

And those are not all of Laura’s problems. She also must deal with a husband who is growing more jealous each day of her relationship with the charismatic Colonel. And the Colonel’s attention to Laura has her wondering if he is developing feelings for her, or just using her for his own personal gain.

If you have ever wondered what you would do in the post nuclear apocalypse, be sure to read Lynn Lamb’s Tour de Force: The Survivor Diaries, Monte Vista Village (Book 1). http://www.the-survivor-diaries.com/
