Joseph Jacobs was a notable collector of English fairy tales. He popularized such stories as: The Cat and the Mouse, Jack the Giant Killer, Jack and the Beanstalk. Three little Pigs is one of the most popular English fairy tales, it has been translated to many languages. Jacobs published the first best-known form of the story in English Fairy Tales in 1890. The story is about three pigs and a bad wolf. The first pig built a house of straw, the second one built a house of furze sticks. Both of these houses were blown down by the wolf and the owners were eaten by him. The third pig built a house of bricks and the wolf was not able to blow it down. Then the wolf were trying to outwit the pig somehow but he failed. Then he decided to come down the pig’s chimney. Whether he ate the pig or not, you will know when you read the whole story.
