Amelia Slater, 29, has a good job, an apartment in Clontarf, a vicious cat and a huge crush on Ray Donnelly at work. She and her friend Ruth are dedicated weight watchers, but powerless to resist a bottle of wine and tube of Pringles. When Amelia’s sister Jenny announces her engagement to dull Mike, Amelia realises she is stuck in a rut and jealous to boot.

Amelia is thrilled when she gets it together with Ray, but there’s something he isn’t telling her. Just why is he always on the phone and running off to help his mates at a moment’s notice?

Nice guy Jack says Ray is a liar, but Amelia is not listening. She thinks Jack is plain dull until he and Ruth start dating.

Amelia decides to take a risk and moves jobs to the new Fairview office, but soon she is wondering whether it is the right move.

When Amelia discovers that all is not perfect in Jenny’s new married life and that the grass is not always greener, she learns that happiness does not come naturally – you have to work at it.
