Sissy Hissyfit is just an ordinary girl who lives in an ordinary street with her ordinary family. However, Sissy does have one little problem in her ordinary life and that problem is that she tends to throw tantrums an awful lot over the silliest of things.
Now I know that this isn't a major problem in itself but it can turn into one if you happen to live down the road from a witch.
Miss Gigglejinks lives at number four and isn't exactly a witch yet, just a witch in her first year of training and, quite honestly, she isn't very good at it. So when Sissy chooses, unwisely, to throw a tantrum in front of Miss Gigglejinks the hapless witch decides to cast a spell over her. With the words “Hassa fulla osser ricer make this child a lot lot nicer” the fateful spell is cast but it isn't quite as Miss Gigglejinks intended. For now, whenever Sissy throws a tantrum a big hole will swallow her up and she will travel at top speed through the tunnel of many colours before finally being dropped in a weird and wonderful land far far away.
In Sissy’s first adventure she is transported, in a rather bumpy and unladylike manner, through the tunnel and into the village of Og In The Bog in the land of Foggywamp and, before you know it, she is off on an adventure with her new friend Fiddlydee. On their merry way they encounter the Howdoyoudo trees (the politest species of tree) and the Spittypip bushes (nowhere near as polite!) before finally ending up at the castle of King Hebee. And this is just the start of Sissy’s adventure so, as you can imagine, by about page six the poor girl is left quite shattered!
But, alas for poor Sissy, the spell was cast that the tunnel will only return her home when she has committed a good deed or two and calmed down a lot!
So it looks like unless Sissy changes her ways in the future she will be a very well-travelled girl from now on!

This book is aimed at children up to 8 years of age, but bigger kids have been known to enjoy it!
