The War on Words is a collection of Bob Yearick's grammar columns that appear monthly in Out & About Magazine, published in Wilmington, DE. Written in a conversational and humorous style, the columns address virtually every grammar, punctuation and pronunciation gaffe committed by Americans, especially those in the media or those featured in the media. These columns are Bob's humble attempt to stem the tide of semi-literacy that is sweeping the country, a tide propelled by email, texting and twittering as well as the general disregard for proper English. In just five years, The War on Words columns have generated a large fan base that is now on the lookout for grammar, spelling and verbal gaffes. Almost daily, Bob and his fans discover yet another public figure who misuses literally, a store that uses the apostrophe to form plurals, or a friend who puts a sign on his house that reads "The Smith's." It is a never-ending war, but one that Bob has vowed to fight to the death.
