We reached Temple Hall in due time, where I was kindly welcomed by Mrs. Temple and her two daughters. Joseph Hocking, born in Cornwall 1860 to 1937, was the father of the well known mystery writer Anne Hocking. A couple of his books were adapted into films after his death. Joseph Hocking as well as being an author he was also a clergyman-preacher as was his brother. Whilst his detective-mystery output was slight his work in other genres of writing was prolific and extremely popular at the time.
