Charles Montgomery Skinner (Aug 4, 1844 - Jun 30, 1928) was an American writer who published myths and legends collection books. His dream was to make American folklore heritage more glorious. Skinner’s writings were wide ranging.
The white Deer of Onota is a short story by Charles M. Skinner, included in "Myths and Legends of Our Own Land; Volume 04: Tales of Puritan Land". Onota is a little village in the Berkshire Hills. A band of Indians lived there. And as they did, they used to meet a white deer from time to time. No hunter ever dared to slay that beast, for his appearance was considered to be a good omen. But in hearts of some men lingers no respect or faith in such things.
