A Christian travels to modern day Israel in search of the historical and spiritual Jesus. This work is largely a spiritual guide, partly a travel guide, and partly a diary as to what the author encountered on a 2016 trip to the Holy Land.
This book narrates the author's quest to find both the spiritual and historical Jesus as a Christian visiting modern Israel. From the Sea of Galilee to the north, to the Dead Sea in the south, this book follows the author as he visits the geographical settings of the Bible, and tries to scrape away the modern veneer of Israel in order to find the homeland of the time of Jesus. The reader will visit the
Sea of Galilee, Nazareth, the Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum, Bethlehem, Maritime Caesaria, the Jordan River, the Dead Sea and the many wonders of Jerusalem. A morning at theTemple Mound and some strange encounters with the Muslims of the Dome of the Rock are related. The author discusses how much or how little the modern sites resemble the Israel of Jesus. More importantly, the work discusses which sites were spiritually moving and refreshing as he strove to commune with Jesus in the modern Holy Land. The work ends with the author's search for the true site of the Crucifixion, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus, and includes visits to both the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Garden Tomb. This book is primarily intended as a Christian's spiritual guide to visiting the Holy Land, but can also be used as a travel guide in preparation for your own trip to Israel.
