Even though the subject of the kingdom of God is a class I have been teaching in our Post Graduate Diploma in Church Growth course in the last several years, yet the Lord has always burdened my heart to write a book on it in an elaborate way, so that many more people can have access to this most important mission of Jesus and basic foundation of our Christian faith.
The doctrine of the kingdom of God is the heart of the earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus. He introduced it, emphasized it, preached and taught it, lived it and demonstrated it for all to see. He commissioned His disciples to go and preach the gospel of the kingdom.
Too many church leaders are doing ministry without proper knowledge of the kingdom of God and they only understand it in the context of political power. The more reason church leaders are canvassing for political power so as to better their nations. There have been lots of erroneous teachings that emphasize that Christians must seize political power, become Presidents, Governors, Senators, and top government functionaries so as to lead the nation in Christian ways. It is as if politics and political positions, not Jesus are the answer to the problems of our nation.
While a nation can be influenced with kingdom principles if those at the helm of affairs are true citizens of His kingdom and they are living the kingdom lifestyle, yet the emphasis of Jesus remains that 'my kingdom is not of this world', meaning that He came only to establish and spread His spiritual kingdom in the heart of men, and not to seize political power or rule the worldly kingdom.
Jesus did not come for political power but to establish His spiritual kingdom in the world. He is a spiritual king than a politician. It is this knowledge that this book aims to disseminate to the body of Christ. The message and gospel of the kingdom is very scarce in our pulpits today and the devil is happy about it. The more reason the church is floundering and true disciples are hard to come by in our society.
