What happens when an ordinary, 17-year-old white kid becomes a rapper? It’s a magic carpet ride. Ben is doing what comes naturally: performing live on stage. He loves it. And thanks to his talent and his agent’s connections, he gets to perform to ever larger audiences. Then comes his big chance: a tour as the opening act for a famous rapper! A dream come true? At first it seems that way, but the dream soon turns into a nightmare. The more successful and well known he becomes, the more pressure he faces, pressure from the media, from his fans, from his father and his school, but especially the pressure that his career is putting on his relationship with his hometown girlfriend. Far from home, tired out from the grind of the tour and missing his girlfriend badly, Ben starts taking drugs to keep himself going. When his agent warns the boy that his performances are going from bad to worse, Ben begs him for a break, but the agent gets angry and reminds him that he is under contract. The show must go on!
