Living in the bustling liberal metropolis of Tal was a luxury. Being a part of the ‘elite’ forces which kept it safe from external threats was a dream come true; particularly since there hadn’t been such a threat for the past thirty years. It was with this argument that Lade had convinced his friends to enlist, aided of course, by the steady income and minimal duties that came with the post. Now, two years in to their term, Lade struggles to maintain some semblance of order in his squad as he is confronted with looming threats of government cuts, a burning rivalry with the gallant young Captain Westbrook, and distant rumbles of war to the east. In this time of growing turmoil, Lade and his squad are given their first major mission. About to set out on their duty, the squad’s precarious status quo is wrenched asunder by the seemingly trivial strum of a citole.
