Bernard Singh PhD, professor of physics at Oxford University returns from a research assignment at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland unaware that his interactions with a colleague have set in motion a series of events that will lure him across the ocean and away from his home and family. In the United States of America, President Laura Kipfur has cobbled together a dedicated group of political allies and military leaders to over-see America's last desperate attempt to turn a tide of crushing global economic chaos, domestic terrorism and a resurgent Russian Federation. The President's illegally funded plan-of-attack - the unorthodox Phoenix project, is now dependant upon Dr. Singh's newest theory following the suspicious death of an American scientist working at a secret facility. As the map of Europe is redrawn and the EU crumbles, the Western Hemisphere spirals towards a dystopian end. Terror attacks in America, England and across Europe have sparked insurgent uprisings and pushed governments to embrace restrictive and increasingly desperate security policies.
