This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of The Power of God are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore six topics, from different verses in the book of Isaiah. They are: Covering; ‘The Lord has founded Zion’; Relying on God; Help; God’s presence, power and greatness; and Turn to God and be saved.
Excerpts:
Covering
“Jesus is the Word and so he is not static. He went about helping people and healing those who are oppressed of the devil (Acts 10:38). Those who came to Jesus came with all manner of issues and they got the solution, they went back happy, he is everything.”
‘The Lord has founded Zion’
“In Zion our minds think the thoughts of God, because God is, in his inspiration, flows in us, through his thoughts we get to hear him speak to us (Isaiah 55:8-9). As our thoughts get lined up with him our lives gets lined up too, with Paul saying that when we are transformed by the renewal of our minds (Romans 12:1-2).”
Relying on God
“We should learn to commit things to God, everything. Solomon wrote trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all you ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path (Proverbs 3:5-6).”
Help
“That also is your portion. If everyone is hungry you will have food to eat, if everyone is thirsty you will have water to drink and if everyone is ill you will be in sound health. It is written: by his (Christ) stripes we were healed (1Peter 2:24). And with him we mount up with wings like eagle, run and do not go weary, and walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:28-31).”
God’s presence, power and greatness
“We need to hunger and thirst for the presence of God, we need to seek to manifest the power and see the glory of God.”
Turn to God and be saved
“He did not allow God to help him get over what he was hung up on, in his relationship with him and with his brother. Not willing to be mended, not turning to God to be mended he become irrevocably broken. That is what James meant when he said God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). It takes a dose of humility for you to realize that you are wrong or are on the wrong path to seek help from the divine presence.”
