This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Spiritual Identity are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore nine topics, from different verses in the book of Genesis. They are: Man as God’s image; The deceiver; The image of Adam; The marred image of God; Build; The 3 dimensions of time; Embrace your birthright; The blessed of the Lord; and The house of God is the gate of heaven.
Excerpts:
Man as God’s image
“In Christ, there is restoration to dominion, fellowship and creativity which were the reasons God made man in the first instance, once we become one with Christ as his body (Romans 12:5, 1Corinthians 12:27), when we are saved through faith in him.”
The deceiver
“He also frees us from false grace which breeds self-justification for sin, which leads to the trap of rejecting the true grace which teaches right living. It keeps man in the confines of sin and death, holding him from experiencing freedom from sin into relationship with God that Christ affords.
“It’s all about relationship with God but the deceiver would have none of that.”
The image of Adam
“The image of the first Adam is that of wilfulness against God while that of the second Adam is humility before God. Paul had a testimony about Jesus that he humbled himself to take on the form of man, and he took that humility to the extreme, laying down his life for the salvation of mankind.”
The marred image of God
“Then the body at last would be conformed to the image of the Son of God at the resurrection, when Jesus comes back to the earth. It’s all about Jesus being the template of the new creation.”
Build
“We became more dangerous than ever, we become animated with the very presence of God. But we must not forget that the foundation for the expression of the Holy Spirit is the word of God, if the bones did not come to bone, which stands for rightly diving the word of truth (2Timothy 2:15), we would not have an exceedingly great army animated to the Holy Spirit to speak of.”
The 3 dimensions of time
“The three times are interwoven. They are all about change. The chronological time is about age according to the calendar, the process time is about age according to the effort you have made, while appointed times is change produced by interjections on our path in life. Both progressive and appointed time can be for good or for evil, but for Christians we have grace for the two to always be positive. As it is written: all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). And God is at work in us both to will and to do of his good pleasure (Philippians 2:12-13).”
Embrace your birthright
“Eternal life is your birthright, embrace that and you should do things that emphasises that aspect of you. Measure all relationships and activities by how they aid the expression of the eternal life in you, which was the opposite of what Esau did, and he was called a profane man (Hebrews 12:16), despising his birthright while focusing on the need of the moment. Live your life in consideration of your birthright, eternal life; live the rest of your life in pursuit of knowing God, which is one of the definitions of eternal life (John 17:3), because for eternity that will be our highest engagement. The more we know him, the more we become like him. Embrace that as your Calling and pursue it, everything else should be in deference to it.”
