Vil Makler is the only human alive after a desperate and suicidal last space battle against aliens nicknamed Ants for their looks and behaviour.

He also learns the advanced predator species inhabiting the planet are losing a war against the ruthlessly expanding local Ants species and that he needs to escape with her when the Ants begin their horrible examination of him as an unknown species to them.
