Then something happened that made her catch her breath and place her hand up to her mouth. A shoulder came part way out of the darkness. Now she knew she was right all along. She really had seen something move out of the corner of her eye. Then more of the shoulder was revealed and she realized that whoever it belonged to, was stepping into the light. With a growing fear building inside, she held her breath and watched as more and more of the person behind the shoulder got closer. It wasnt until a portion of the head moved into the light that a chill shot through her as she finally understood who it was. The chill bolted down her spine into her legs making them weak under her. Her hand was now clamped across her mouth while the other became clenched into a fist. She knew that this wasnt one of the others. When the rest of his head had been fully illuminated, she realized he had it bowed down showing only the top. His long hair looked menacing with its untidy and dirty look. She had to squeeze her hand tighter against her mouth to prevent a scream from escaping. Then, as if in slow motion, he lifted his head to reveal his face. And there it was. His evil smile. Even though he was unable to see her while she remained within the darkness of her alcove, he continued to stare in her direction. As if he could see through the darkness to her. This is where hes been waiting for me all along! Then his smile turned into a silent laugh as he lifted his arm out of the shadows, revealing the knife held firmly in his hand. He raised it up high so she could get a good look and then reverted back to his horrid smile. She watched intently as he gingerly maneuvered the knife through the air less than an inch from his chest. She wasnt sure what to do. She was trapped in her alcove. Even if by some miracle, she was able to make it out of there and down the hallway before he was able to attack her with his knife, she surely wouldnt be able to outrun the other, especially with her leg slowing her down. Hes going to come over here and kill me! Hes showing me his knife so Ill know how hell do it! It was then that he stepped completely out of his alcove and very slowly, walked in her direction. She froze, unable to move as she watched him get closer with each step. Then he suddenly stopped. A little confused, she observed him, waiting to see what he would do next. Hes taunting mestanding so close with his knifethreatening me with his horrible smile. But then, while he was standing in the middle of the hallway, he turned and looked toward the open door where one of the others was standing. And then he walked in that direction.
