“Sarah, I will have to keep this from the others. It would make things more awkward around here. It’s not exactly protocol to get involved with a witness, and if it got out, I’m not sure if they would allow me to continue on the case.”

“I understand, and I kind of find it exciting to sneak around like a couple of crazy kids.”

Falling asleep, we spooned together until morning.

When I woke, I find that he wasn't in my bed anymore.

There was a note that said, I’m being selfish, and just because I can't keep it in my pants, doesn't mean that I should shirk my duties. I got a call, and they think that they have a lead that would bring this to an end. I want to take this man down for you so I have to leave, but hopefully when I get back I'll have good news.

So I sighed. Worrying about him was going to be my job until he entered the doorway of this house again.

Taking my robe, I cinched it closed, and went downstairs to seek out something for breakfast. On my way down the hall, I met up with Brenda, and I could see the daggers in her eyes as she most definitely heard what Kit and I were doing in the other room.

We didn't mean to expose our relationship, but last night was definitely anything but quiet despite what Kit told me afterwards. A month before, did I have any idea that I would spend a night just like that with a beautiful man I didn’t even know then? Nah.

Life was beautiful.
