If you enjoyed "Eat, Pray, Love," you will love this inspirational, self help and travel memoir.
Brigid P. Gallagher aspired to becoming a doctor but it was not her destiny. Instead, she settled for a career in the life assurance industry, before embarking on lengthy studies to become one of the first natural medicine practitioners in Scotland.
She enjoyed empowering others, and taught a variety of therapies in community projects, a women's prison and for The Open Studies and Summer Schools of Stirling University from 1993 to 1999. She also opened a holistic healing centre and shop in central Stirling.
Life was BUSY.
However, the death of her father and the breakup of her marriage forced her to SLOW DOWN, and in 1999 she returned to the home of her ancestors in Donegal, Ireland.
Sadly, Brigid succumbed to a mysterious illness in 2003, which forced her to STOP THE WORLD and search for answers to her vast array of symptoms. Drawing on her knowledge and experience as a natural medicines therapist, she embraced a number of therapies to aid her healing, and integrated a variety of self help techniques and lifestyle changes.
She also unearthed a love of solo travel including Egypt, India, Rome, Lourdes, Carcassonne and Bali...
In 2006, she began a new career in Organic Horticulture, working in the glorious gardens of Glenveagh Castle and eventually teaching part time in schools. Although she has now retired from teaching, she continues to pursue her lifelong passion for gardening and watching the daisies.
In this beautiful memoir on self healing, travel and spirituality, Brigid shares her top ten tips for self healing, the importance of mindfulness and many insights on life.
The most important lesson she has embraced on her journey is:
"First learn to love thyself."
