I looked at my friend’s life and he seemed to have it all: He was a successful entrepreneur who worked hard and enjoyed life. He loved people and his servant heart led him around the world helping on numerous missions projects sponsored by our church. He had a loving wife who shared his passion for missions and together they raised three handsome boys.
He was a man’s man who loved to work with his hands and felt there was no project too big or complicated that he couldn’t take on. He built a beautiful log cabin with lumber he fell on his own property. After finishing his dream home he began his next project - building a sixty foot aluminum sailboat in a shop he would erect in his own backyard. He said he had always been as “healthy as an ox” but seven years into building his boat, a colonoscopy revealed Bill Lee had colon cancer.
God was about to lead Bill on a three year journey in which his life would intersect with mine in a wonderful way. From hours spent recording Bill’s heartfelt stories during chemotherapy treatments, we realized we had a lot to learn about God’s grace. Come join our adventure as you discover that a cancer diagnosis doesn’t always mean you have to slow down; for some it means full steam ahead.
