Simon is the opinionated co-owner with his long suffering wife, Sally, of a seaside Bed and Breakfast guesthouse in Paignton, Devon, England.
He catapults from one crisis to another, usually of his own making. His angst is caused by his teenage son, in-laws, cleaning staff, a prisoner, a suspected paedophile, various guests and a long-running feud with another hotelier.
He finds himself mixed up in a campaign to make dog owners clean up dog mess, and has several brushes with the law due to his fixations with his guests. His determination to wallpaper the premises with signs forbidding a wide range of activities by his guests causes annoyance.
Simon is always right. Everyone else is always wrong. He is the sort of person you would worry taking anywhere, because at the back of your mind you know he’s going to cause trouble.
These are the diaries by him and his wife.
