The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that victims of severe domestic violence annually miss 8 million days of paid work—the equivalent of 32,000 full-time jobs, and approximately 5.6 million days of household productivity (Burnett, 2013). Sadly, this phenomenon is commonplace throughout the entire world, and it's related to the lack of communication, social values and structural psychology roles that are still to be changed.

The concept of empowerment is strictly connected with the concept of equality, freedom, justice, and well-being. No matter where you come from, no matter your religion, no matter your ethnicity, and no matter your political ideas, you have the right to pursue a happy, safe, and prosperous life, just like any other single individual alive on the planet right now. Sex, race, ideologies, and beliefs should not be considered "separators", but they should represent the rich cultural diversity of mankind.
