This is the story about a fictional Welsh coalmining village. The village sits on a hillside above Cwm Derw colliery, it is here where the story evolves. Anwen Pritchard, wife of Iolo a colliery official (pronounced yollow) lives and loves, but there is another man in her life, Maldwyn Evans, a charismatic collier, life and soul of the party,so to speak. Iolo has his suspicions. Miners whispering, Anwen not at home when he gets in from a hard day's work at the colliery.

The situation gets the better of the pit official as he constantly suffers the knowing looks and innuendo. He decides to do something about it, some thing terrible. Read the story, see the lives of coalminers as they toil below ground, and how they suffer the Wrath of Anwen.
