Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834) was an English Poet and philosopher, a bright representative of the so-called ‘Lake Poets’. During his college years he was absorbed by revolutionary ideas and eventually got expelled for that. Not so many years passed and he became a representative of romanticism, fascinated ancient and medieval times. The quintessence of his literary career was the membership in the ‘Lake Poets’ society, a club where poets combined worship of the nature with their own distinctictive philosophy. 'Aid to Reflection' is considered one of the most influential theological works by Coleridge. In this work he traces back the origin of the Anglican orthodoxy but tries to foresee the future religious life by analysis the spiritual trends of his time.
