Going though U. S. Customs seems much easier than going through Italian Customs. The possibility is language and familiarity or the trained thought process from childhood. We, as Americans, programmed to excellence, think in a prescribed order to achieve our goals. U. S. Customs is pushing the envelope today; there seems to be over 500 people here and we are moving faster than an airport security line.
There’s an air of sadness, we are coming home one family member less. We do not have confirmation of his demise. And I for one, hope he didn’t live through whatever torture he underwent. Leaving Italy one family member short was harder than burying Johnny a year and a half ago. Jelly is the only one who seems at ease. I try to follow her lead since she revealed the truth to me regarding Major, her husband. Too often, the secrets between sisters are more important than reporting anything to the authorities.
No one knows where Major disappeared to for three days not telling anyone anything. Jelly doesn’t want to know where he is, she does, however, want to know if and when he will return. As a family, we try not to question her; but as the big sister, I will get answers. I drag her off to wine country. Well this entire country is wine country.
