I am writing this book simply because in the many conversations I have had with business owners and managers in charge of communication, it is clear they acknowledged the dire need for an organization to invest in a blueprint and to draw out a roadmap for the businesses to communicate with their audience to create a STRONG BRAND PRESENCE. In these conversations too, there is a clear understanding of the importance of having a Communication Blueprint, yet ironically, many businesses do not have nor have any concern to create a blueprint until some form of communication crisis hit them.
Most conversations, however, do display concerted agreement on the importance of a clearly designed communication plan; a sound argument of how market responses to messages, intelligent discourse on best practices, and then the conversations end with the business chugging along in complacency. Most take on the easier ‘cast-the-net’ communication strategy and hope to catch the ‘right fish’ while others constantly find themselves ‘fire fighting’ because the unintended message went out and got sorely misunderstood!
This book is written based on my experiences and research, conversations and learning, and with an effort to be all encompassing because communication is relevant in every industry at every level. However, it is also written with the Malaysians in mind, with all the quirks, culture, practices and sensitivities in chosen case studies shared throughout the books. It is not meant to be exclusively Malaysian or Asian, but it will have some spices peppered in parts of the book.
