This collection contains six full-length detective novels by pioneering writer Harlan Page Halsey, better known as "Old Sleuth." Old Sleuth was the first dime novel detective, appearing in print in THE FIRESIDE COMPANION as early as 1872. By the 1890s, the popularity of Old Sleuth had led to a stand-alone book series which began to rival western and frontier stories in broad appeal. Includes an active table of contents for easy navigation.

Contents

Cad Metti, The Female Detective Strategist
Oscar the Detective ; Or, Dudie Dunne, The Exquisite Detective (1895)
A Desperate Chance; Or, The Wizard Tramp's Revelation (1897)
Two Wonderful Detectives (1898)
A Successful Shadow (1899)
The Dock Rats of New York (1908)

The Twin Ventriloquists (1895)

A Successful Shadow-

Those of our readers who read our narrative "Two Wonderful Detectives," will more especially enjoy the further adventures of Jack Alvarez. To those who did not read that narrative we will state that this remarkable detective had just solved a great mystery--one of the most remarkable detective feats ever accomplished.
