At the age of sixteen Debbie runs away from home hitchhiking from Oklahoma City to Chicago Illinois her guardian angel on her shoulder she makes it there safely without altercation, once in Chicago an ignorant teenager having lived a sheltered life unfamiliar with the ways of the world and life on the streets a tough place for an adult much less a juvenile she will have to grow up fast and learn on her own how to survive or she will surely perish without help.
Referred by Catholic family charities to St. Peter's Catholic church, hearing her story she having shown him a bruise she'd got from falling down portraying it as a bruise she'd received from her in anger from her father a young priest named father Jason Michaels taking pity on her.
