She a barber having a shop in a New York high-rise, New York born and raised.
He hired as a sanitation engineer/janitor, he from a broken marriage on Long Island originating from Oklahoma.
A chance meeting or a twist of fate they meet one evening just before she is ready to close her shop his supervisor having assigned him to clean it, she previously married herself her now ex-husband an abusive person giving her a fear of men she does not know.

They are sharing a happy life together for quite some time she becoming pregnant with his baby they both looking forward to its birth.

He rents a place for her and gives her some money for old-time's sake.
Living in a small town everybody knows everybody else's business, it is not long before his wife finds out about him and his high school sweetheart.

His high school sweetheart is murdered and homicide believes he is a suspect.
The convenience store where she is working is robbed and she is shot after accidentally tripping the silent holdup alarm.
The store manager tells the police dispatch it is probably a false alarm as the girl that is working there is new and probably opened the safe without turning the alarm off but she will check it out.
The store manager comes in finding her employee laying in the floor half dead from a gunshot wound, she is rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
