The thing Jeremiah Dodge remembers most about his childhood is the dreams about monsters withbig, black, almond-shaped eyes. Maybe young Jeremiah had an active imagination, but, then again, maybe not.

As an adult, the dreams intensify and he often wonders if his dreams weren't dreams at all, butburied memories. He begins hearing a female voice in his dreams, telling him that she is coming forhim. The sudden appearance of Mae-Rus, an alien from the planet Aurelia, and her warning ofimpending planetary doom, shock Jeremiah into accepting his dreams as reality.

According to this alien, the human race is in a death spiral, only one generation away from selfdestruction. She recruits Jeremiah to become her messenger, announcing the opportunity to join thecosmic community. Reluctantly, he accepts the mission, only to find himself in the middle of a coverupof galactic proportions. Can he help change the course of Earth's future, or will humanity sadlybring about its own tragic end?
