Heidi a young orphan girl is sent to live with her grumpy old grandfather in the Swiss Alps. She enjoys her new life with new friends, especially Peter who looks after the goats.  Heidi's lively spirit and loving ways endear her to those around her.  She cares deeply about other people and their problems and through her desire to give changes the lives of those around her.  She is then taken away to live as companion to a disabled older girl Clara and although she enjoys the company of Clara and her grandmother, who teaches her about the good shepherd, Heidi misses her life with her grandfather and longs to return. When she is able to go back to her beloved home in the mountains she invites Clara for a visit and a wonderful transformation takes place. Charmingly Illustrated.
