ABOUT THE BOOK

The kind of talent possessed by American actress Meryl Streep comes along once or twice in a century. Taking her place among legendary greats like Lawrence Olivier and Marlon Brando, Streep reminds audiences of the rare kind of magic a true actor possesses.

Streep also possesses a personal grace unique to someone so famous. Shes known the world over for her film roles, but she hasnt let her star status go to her head. In a media-soaked world full of talentless reality stars, Streeps presence is a testament to the saying that substance always triumphs over style.

MEET THE AUTHOR

Jackie Morrison is an Arts and Culture writer in California who bylines under JackieMO or The Film Fatale for TheCelebrityCafe.com. She enjoys foreign film, theater, photography, and the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. She recently completed her first novel, and she also works as a writing coach and mentor for aspiring pop culture journalists.

EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK

Many consider Meryl Streep to be the greatest actress of her generation. Her ability to master accents and dialects as well as transition in chameleon-like fashion from role to role has earned her wide acclaim in the eyes of the public and entertainment industry. Since making her professional debut in a 1971 play called The Playboy of Seville, Streep has become one of the most accomplished and fascinating cultural figures of the 21st century.

Streep proved her extraordinary flexibility and talent for physical transformation through her roles in Kramer versus Kramer, Sophies Choice, Out of Africa, The French Lieutenant's Woman, Silkwood, and the Devil Wears Prada, among many more. Her range of work in comedy, romance, and drama, both on stage and screen, prevented Streep from being typecast early in her career. She can command an audience in person just as well as she does on celluloid.

Streep, perhaps the most nominated actress in history, has been nominated for 17 Oscars and 26 Golden Globes. She has earned two Best Actress Oscars (for her roles in Kramer vs. Kramer and Sophies Choice), two Emmys, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and eight Golden Globes. She has received five Grammy nominations, a Tony nomination, and a 2004 AFI Life Achievement Award.
